As some of you know, I had a bit of an altercation today with a woman named Diane on an airplane.
I had a great time antagonizing her, reading your responses, and just generally trying to have fun with an irritating person. But I did have a point and I just want to put it out there.
I know I can…
Honestly, I love this response. Now that I don’t work in the service industry and don’t face getting fired for explaining to people you don’t get to treat others like shit, because they *gasp* failed to realize the world revolved around you!, I’m feel pretty inspired to instead of just rolling my eyes and commiserating with the employee (hey, i have even sometimes left a bigger tip when I have witnessed shit like this!) but to now actually SAY something. People not saying anything is how the “Daines” of this world make it to adulthood with this level of self centered obliviousness, thinking they can go around demeaning people without realizing that other people outside of them exists and have human feelings too (LOL forever @ the fact she calls Elan out for not having “compassion.” The fact she can’t see outside herself! /sigh). I’ve often wondered “…how do people make it so far into adulthood thinking that treating others, including retail workers/flight attendants/food server waiters & bartenders like shit under their shoes is fucking acceptable?” Aside from them having some soicopathic tendencies, i bet some of it (starting with shit parents) was people not pointing out “WOW, you are being an asshole, you need to stop.”
Time to start!
